Mission
The mission of the Juvenile Court is defined in Chapters 2151 and 2152 of the Ohio Revised Code and the Rules of Juvenile Procedure as established by the Supreme Court of Ohio.
The primary goals of the Juvenile Court system are:
- Protecting public safety and the community
- Holding offenders accountable for their actions
- Restoring and supporting victims
- Rehabilitating offenders
- Providing for the care, protection, and development of children
These goals are achieved through a system of graduated sanctions and services designed to promote responsibility, growth, and positive outcomes for youth.
Juvenile Court
The Belmont County Juvenile Court is responsible for matters involving delinquent, unruly, neglected, dependent, and abused children.
The Court has the authority to take appropriate action in the best interests of the child while also considering the safety and well-being of the community.
The Court also has jurisdiction over parents and individuals who may contribute to the delinquency of a child.
Throughout Ohio, the focus of Juvenile Courts remains on rehabilitation and providing services that support youth within the community.
